An oil painting that considers the role of home and family in shaping recovery, identity, and personal resilience.

About the Project

Beckoned Upward By the Wallpaper as I Drifted Into a Cold Bed is an oil painting on panel that presents a vision of home, family, and the self as interconnected and essential. The work reflects on how these elements function as sources of support, shaping the possibility for a father living with substance use disorder to reach toward a better life. Through the human form and domestic imagery, the painting examines emotional environments that influence identity, stability, and change.
